I am working on an internationally funded observational documentary, which is aimed at the festival circuit amongst others, so it matters to us a lot how it would look there. It would be nice if anyone has had the chance to look at such material in cinema and seriously share their experience. thanks.

I've not seen the 7D, but I've seen the 5D markII. No problems whatsoever- similar to a Sony F23. Since the 7D resolves close to the 5D and the HVX, which I also saw in cinema projection looking great, I would assume there's no problem with the 7D.

Similar to the F23? Only if you shoot like Michael Mann! The F23 is far, far, far, far superior. What it lacks in DOF characteristics, it makes up for with everything else.
I've seen 5D footage blown up before, but they were static shots. It'll look good if the footage is shot well. Unfortunately the big screen will also reveal these cameras' flaws in a bigger way |
